With broken hearts and profound sorrow, we remember and honor the life of Marissa Marie Carstensen, age 12, of Elkhorn, who passed away on April 7, 2026. Though her time on this earth was far too short, the love she gave and the joy she brought into the world will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and cherished her.
Marissa was a bright and loving young soul whose presence brought warmth, light, and happiness to her family, friends, and community. She is remembered for her gentle spirit, her kindness, and the way she touched lives with a sincerity far beyond her years. Her laughter, energy, and compassionate heart created memories that her loved ones will hold onto forever.
She is preceded in death by her father, Kevin Carstensen; her grandfather, Roger Britten; her grandparents Deb and Steve Uarich; and her special aunt, Bootsie. Their passing marked deep losses within her family, and Marissa’s reunion with them is held in faith and remembrance.
Marissa is lovingly survived by her mother, Jenna (Dane) Uarich; her sisters, Leah Carstensen and Berkly Uarich; and her grandparents Jim and Joan, along with many extended family members and friends who adored her deeply. She was surrounded by love throughout her life, and that love continues to surround her memory.
Those who knew Marissa describe her as a kind-hearted and gentle young girl who cared deeply for others. She brought light into every room she entered and had a way of making people feel special and valued. Her innocence, joy, and love for life made her truly unforgettable.
